Background / introduction

Positive psychotic experiences are relatively common in the general population. Only a subset of these people are diagnosed with a psychotic disorder during their lifetime. Therefore, the psychosis phenotype can be seen as a continuum. In this project, the age- and sex-specific prevalence rates of self-reported psychotic experiences among the general Dutch population will be researched, as well as the associated factors. Data from Lifelines, a prospective general population cohort study that consists of 167.729 participants from the Northern provinces in the Netherlands, will be used. In the current project all adult patients, i.e. aged 18 years or older, who filled in the Psychosis Screening Questionnaire (PSQ) will be included.

1. What are the age- and sex-specific prevalence rates of self-reported psychotic experiences among the general Dutch population? 2. Which factors are associated with self-reported psychotic experiences in the general Dutch population after correcting for age and sex?

Workplan
During this project you will learn to write a data request, do a concise review of the literature, analyse the data and write a report. The report will eventually be rewritten as a manuscript and submitted for publication.
