Background / introduction
In the UMCG, a childhood epilepsy database is being made. This database includes all children who experienced their first seizure with or
without fever before the age of 18 years, occurring between
January 1st, 2000 and January 1st, 2010, and who were treated
in our hospital for their seizures. Among other things, used anti-epileptic drugs are recorded.
Research question / problem definition
Which anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) are prescribed as first choice drug and can a shift towards newer AEDs be observed through the years?
Currently, the database already contains information of almost 1000 children. During this research project, the rest of the database has to be completed.
Data about prescription of AEDs have to be extracted and analysed.
